Software doesn't recognise the printer

Postby plaasjaapie » Sat May 12, 2012 6:08 pm

I assembled my new Up!, installed the software and hooked it up. I am trying to test the extruder {page 13, item 7} When I try to open the "maintenance" window, I get a little message window that says "Can't find 3D Printer".

I have the system connected via the USB cable and the system is powered up and resets properly. When I power it on I get that funny little stutter sound that happens when a new USB connection is initiated. What am I doing wrong?

Check the device manager, try to re-install manual, similar to

Hope that works out...

Hi Marcus!

I pulled up the device manager. I can see the 3D printer listed under "Other Devices", but not under "Universal Serial Bus controllers". I've unplugged and replugged it with no effect on that list. My PC is apparently not recognising the printer as a USB connected device?

I've attached a pic of the device manager so you can see what I'm talking about. I'm running a fast, relatively new 64 bit machine using Windows 7.

Thanks,

Forrest

Okay. Got it running. The manual description for driver installation was set up for Windows XP while I use Windows 7. After I managed to figure out the similar, but not identical way of installing drivers in 7, I got the UP! running properly.
