WINUSB.DLL error

Postby jamieboy » Mon Feb 21, 2011 11:13 am

Hi all,

I've downloaded the UP! software to try, to help inform my purchase of the system. When I run it, I get:

"This application has failed to start because WINUSB.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

I have downloaded this DLL and placed it in the system and system32 directories, with no improvement. I am running WinXP SP3 with all updates and have tried it on two separate PCs.

Any ideas as to why it won't work? Does it not work without a printer perhaps?

Thanks in advance,

Jamieboy

Hi, odd, I could run the (older) version of the software without the printer (XP as well).

Perhaps the new one will just run with the printer driver properly installed?
I have no winusb.dll at all (neither in system, system32 or program files).

You could also try to put a copy of the file in the UP! directory/directories.

Hi Marcus,

Thanks for the suggestions. I have now tried putting the DLL in UP! directory, now I have a more generic error on trying to start the program of "UP 3DP Application has encountered a problem and needs to close...". The program gets no where in actually loading though.

I'll try an older version of the program I think!

Yeah, seems like the latest version requires you to actually have the printer to check out the software (or at least be able to install the driver). Def go and try an older version to get a feel for things.

Installing the driver without the printer was easy in both Win7 (64) and Vista..(32)

device manager... actions.. .add legacy hardware... all.. point to the inf file in the install directory/drivers.. let it install the drivers...

You can download the missing winusb.dll file from the link provided below:

http://dllcentral.com/winusb.dll/6.0.60 ... /download/

After downloading the missing winusb.dll file, restore this file into System32 folder.

Path to System32 folder is:
C:/ Windows / System32
Note: C: Drive is your Window Drive.
You may need to restart your PC in order to make the changes effective. This is the source, which is best for solving this sort of dll related issues.

Wasn't there a thing where you had to plug the printer in once to get the software to work, and then you could unplug it and the software would still work?

I know I had a time with the last update, as the DLL thing was a real problem for me, for some reason.

Anyone reading this thread, it seems that the latest version, 1.15, has completely solved this issue, so try that instead.

It's still there, you just need to scroll back to about page 4 ... it's fairly straightforward. Here's the direct link:
